SSW welcomes visiting scholar Liu for yearlong study in nonprofit management

The School of Social Work recently announced that Dr. Chunxiang Liu (pronounced "LEE-OH") will serve as a visiting scholar at the school from August 1, 2012-July 31, 2013. Dr. Tom Holland, SSW Emeritus Professor, will serve as host to Dr. Liu.

Dr. Liu looks will concentrate on learning about community services in the United States. She earned a Doctorate in Management from Central South University in China. She plans to research governance of nonprofit organizations as it relates to organizational accountability in order to promote development of non-profit organizations in China. Dr. Liu comes to the University of Georgia on a scholarship awarded by the China Scholarship Council in order for her pursue study in the United States as a visiting scholar.

Dr. Holland, who will serve as Dr. Liu's host during her stay in the United States, served as a professor at the School of Social Work for 26 years and was recently awarded Professor Emeritus status by the University of Georgia. Holland is well-regarded as an expert in the Nonprofit Management industry and was a driving force behind the development of the Institute for Nonprofit Management at the School of Social Work.
