Three students from the University of Georgia School of Social Work were honored at the 2012 Presidential Honors Day Luncheon held April 17, 2012 at the Tate Student Center's Grand Hall. The luncheon was part of UGA's Honor Week festivities and honored outstanding students from every college and school on campus.

The awards ceremony was particularly noteworthy for the School of Social Work because UGA recognized Social Work and Spanish major Lauren Evans as a UGA First Honor Graduate. A First Honor Graduate is an exceptional student who has maintained a 4.0 average throughout his or her entire academic career at UGA. Evans, from Cumming, GA. Evans is one of fewer than 20 Honor Graduates this year at UGA. After graduation, Lauren will be traveling to India for a year-long missions trip. After the trip, she will put her Social Work training to use full-time as a global missionary.

Other honorees included MSW student Heidi Crockett of Tulsa, OK and Shauna Taylor of Decatur, GA. Crockett was honored as an Outstanding Social Work Student from the Graduate School. After graduation, Crockett plans to launch a health counseling service called GreenLightHeidi.com. Taylor, from Decatur, GA was named Outstanding Student from the BSW program. She plans to attend the University of Chicago to pursue a Master's in Social Work.
